Massey University, New Zealand. |
My name Sun Piseth, I graduated
the degree of Bachelor of Computer Science in 2015 and English for education in
2018 from Phnom Penh International. I am the oldest son in a single-parent
family who come from a small village at the rural area. The
future of my family is in my hands that motivated to strive hard and continue
my studies while I am working. They give me amazing power to make to meet to
overcome all the struggles both in my studies and at work.
In my
life, learning and teaching are parts of my life journey. I believe that I can
use them to keep in touch with people and be closer to the real world. That why I have decided to apply for a MASTER OF EDUCATION
(DIGITAL EDUCATION) at Massey University due to its academic reputation
worldwide. because I know that there are many top world ranking universities
are from New Zealand
and it makes me hunger to do my master's degree there. A
deeper understanding of me I think that education is really play the most
important rule to lead a nation or country to achieve the most developed
country in their region. At this point, I would like to say, “My mum is the
most wonderful woman in my life” without her hardworking, I might not be here to write this letter to
apply for New Zealand Government Scholarship. It's mean that education helpful for those who need to change their life and I
completely know what people from a small family in rural areas like me needed. After I
spent many years to build my academic study and work experiences, I found that
teaching is long-life learning. When a society has more human resource with
high education, it will push up that country to achieve a common goal of their
nation and make their nation to be powerful and superb for living.
There
are several reason that let me decided to apply for this New Zealand Government
scholarship program. Firstly, this program has included a lot of high standard
universities available for me for applying. Secondly, New Zealand is a
developed and modern country and I know that whatever training or education I
received in this country will be a great achievement in my life to improve my
personal academic and self-development. Moreover, it also gives me a great
opportunity to help my home country. this is a great advantage for me to have a
good job with good compensation and benefits which make a big change in my life, so much to mention to give
my mum and my brother a better life. Last but not the least, study abroad is my
big dream I like to challenge new things with new people, I only spend my
time in Myanmar for about 5 months but I deeply understand how much I approved and
how many people I know from ASEAN region and oversea as well. I would love to
explore my idea and knowledge with New Zealand people also people from all over the world and know its cultures and traditions. I cannot wait to explore
myself with a wonderful country like New Zealand.
In
addition, one of the greatest achievement and accomplishment in my life is when
I won EU-SHARE (exchanged program for one semester) to study in Myanmar. I become
a university representative of SHARE Alumni Association of Cambodia, which give
me a great time met many young leaders from ASEAN countries and the EU. It gives me
opportunity to exchange knowledge about being part ASEAN and how to conquer the
international community. My academic skill had improved a lots due to this
activity and it applied with my teaching(training teacher) for first the year
students at my university for nearly one year it make me more understanding of how to
be a teacher and how we feel when we can educate and encourage our students to
be good people in a society. Moreover, it also applied with my work at a Bank
as an ATM operation team leader that allow me to use my English everyday with
customer and my coworker. Beside my working schedule I had participated with my
university events to share my experience to another students I had done a few
presentation with them and make some appointment with those who interest for
the scholarship. At the early I don’t feel any emotional for this activities
but after they won their scholarship and they text me “thank you brother, you
are a helpful person and really kind to us thank you for your time that spend
with us without you I might not apply this scholarship because I feel afraid
and no confidant to do it” it really make me emotional now I understand deeply
why my teacher always happy when they saw their students successes.
I am so grateful if I could be an
awardee of New Zealand Government Scholarship in the coming year. If given
chance, I will share my knowledge to my fellow Cambodians due teaching and work
in Ministry of Education in Cambodia or any education industries both private
and public that focus on education in ASEAN regions.
